El viaje comienza (The trip begins) is the first novelization of Soy Luna. It covers events from Season 1/Episode 01 to Season 1/Episode 21, when Luna and Simón are eliminated from the Freestyle Competition.

El viaje comienza was published on April 14, 2016, a week after the final episode it was based on aired. It was released both in paperback and as an ebook. It is the second Soy Luna book released to coincide with the show, after El principio del verano, a prequel to Soy Luna. As with all future novelizations, the book focuses solely on Luna's storyline from the show. Half of the book is told in first-person from Luna's perspective, while the other half is told in third-person and revolves around the mystery of Sol Benson.
